No Sequel To ‘UMRAO JAAN’?

As per the news coming in, Muzaffar Ali, the director of 1981 hit’ Umrao Jaan’ has dropped the idea of making a sequel to the 1981 classic

It was earlier reported that the makers of the Rekha-starrer 1981 film ‘Umrao Jaan’, were looking to make a sequel to the original film.

Recently, insiders revealed that Rekha turned down an offer to be part of the film’s sequel. Rekha was apparently requested to be a part of Muzaffar Ali’s sequel in ‘Rekha in ‘Umrao Jaan’.

As per the news coming in now, Muzaffar Ali, the director of 1981 hit’ Umrao Jaan’ has dropped the idea of making a sequel to the 1981 classic and has a different film on his mind now, to be made on a courtesan.  As it appears, the makers turned doubtful  on the response of audiences worldwide for the classic hit. 

Umrao Jaan, which was directed by Muzaffar Ali, was based on the Urdu novel Umrao Jaan Ada (1905), written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa.
