Deepika Gives Her Nod For Sriram Raghavan’s Next?

After ‘Badlapur’, director Sriram Raghavan’s next will be the adaptation of the book ‘The Accidental Apprentice’ by Vikas Swarup. And if sources are to be believed, Deepika Padukone has given her nod for the film.

Deepika currently has films like ‘Piku’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, and ‘Tamasha’ in her kitty and that’s why she was not signing any other film. But, reportedly she was in talk with Sriram, who narrated her the story, but Deepika requested him to complete the script before she gives her nod.

A source said, “Sriram has finally bought the rights of the popular book of famous writer Vikas Swarup and is working on the script. The film might go on the floors later this year or early next year. The film is going to be an adaptation of the book that has quite an interesting female character.”

Sriram confirmed the news and said, “We have got the rights but no actor has been signed yet. I am still writing the script.”

Bollywood films have disappointed and no big films made impact in last 6 months except ''''PK''''. This year not a single mainstream masala Bollywood film worked and now ''''Avengers Age Of Ultron'''' is set to dominate Indian box office after stupendous performance of ''''Fast & Furious 7''''.

''''Avengers'''' opened to fantastic numbers of 70% and that was more than what anyone expected. Film will go only better from here onwards as there is no competition at box office. Film has got release in 1600 screens and that is 30% less than ''''Fast & Furious 7'''' but higher ticket prices plus more patronage in metros might even things out.

Film collected 10.98 cr nett which was be huge figure for a non holiday Hollywood opener and higher than any Bollywood opening day in 2015. Film lost at least 1-1.5 cr nett due to cancellation of morning shows due to technical issues. On day two again film was unlucky as it got affected by earthquake as cinemas were closed in larger part of north India but still it managed very good 11.85 cr nett. Film had huge Sunday at box office and collected 12.91 cr nett which was big jump. Film dropped on Monday and collected 5.41 cr nett which was noticeable drop. Film added 4.60 cr nett on Tuesday.

Film has total of 45.75 cr nett which is good total.Going by the drop it seems that film should cross 55 cr nett in week one which was lifetime biz of first installment. Lifetime business of around 75 cr nett will be good and less than that will be disappointing going by the power of Hollywood in India in recent times.

According to the sources, Ekta had fixed Rs 20-crore budget, but Sujoy has apparently demanded double of that.

An insider said, "After a lot of struggle, Ekta acquired the rights to the book. She signed a deal with Sujoy and had locked the casting too. However, as per the agreement, the director had to make the film within a limited budget of Rs. 20 crore. If overshot, the contract would be terminated."

Another source added, "Ekta was keen to have a tight budget for the project, but Sujoy wanted her to extend it by another Rs 20 crore or so. But Ekta put her foot down as she does not want to make it a costly affair. So, she is likely to put the film on hold for the time being or even change the director."

However, Sujoy denies the reports. He said, "Ekta and I are thrilled about the whole concept and the superlative cast mix. The rumours around the film only seem to amuse me." Shubhodip Pal of Balaji Films added, "There is no rift between Sujoy and Ekta."

"After a discussion with her team, they have agreed to pay her Rs 4 crore and so, Jacqueline is currently reworking her dates to incorporate the wedding in her diary. She is likely to shoot for a film with Varun Dhawan and then begin work on a Sri Lankan movie before she leaves for the wedding dance in London," the source added.

Detailed Analysis:

Akshay Kumar is darling of masses and heimpressed classes too with films like 'Baby' and 'Holiday'. Now he is back withyet another south remake but yet another hard-hitting social entertainer.

Gabbar (Akshay Kumar) is a terror among corrupt officials of different departments. He picks ten corrupt officials from every department and hangs one most corrupt out of them in public. Gabbar has chosen this way as he lost his pregnant wife during crash of a building which was made by corrupt industrialist Patil (Suman Talwar). Now after 5 years Gabbar is again pitted against Patil. There is sidetrack of lawyer Shruti Haasan which does not add. Then there are bunch of idiotic cops who keep chasing Gabbar until one tough CBI officer along with a constable starts chasing Gabbar. How Gabbar takes his revenge against the system and people who were responsible for the mess forms the rest of the plot.

Performance wise Akshay Kumar is superb with honest act and consistent intensity throughout the film. Watch out for hospital sequence and climax speech! Shruti Haasan looks okay and acts well. Arunoday Singh is good but looks like a man without emotion at places. Sunil Grover is impressive as constable. Kareena Kapoor shines in cameo and Chitrangada looks sultry hot in item number. Suman Grover is good as villain.

Film has very interesting story and screenplay has certain changes in comparison to original. Dialogues deserve special mention for awesome impact. Though film slows down at places due to songs and editing could have been crispier. Film has couple of good songs and all songs are well shot. Camerawork is superb. Film does get overboard at times, for example that dialogue of Patil being a 'brand' or Shruti Haasan's track.

Director Krish makes an interesting film and he makes a confident debut in Bollywood. His storytelling and drama style bring a keep you engage on screen.

Film will release day after tomorrow and should release across 2600 screens. Film has very good chances at box office as there is not much competition. Film will depend on great opening as such films do not jump much after day one.
