Salim Khan and Javed Akthar on Wednesday finally agreed for an Out-of-Court settlement with the producers of 'Zanjeer'
After being involved in a legal dispute on the copyright of 1973 blockbuster ‘Zanjeer’, script writers Salim Khan and Javed Akthar on Wednesday finally agreed for an Out-of-Court settlement with the producers, making way for release of the remake of the movie this Friday.
A division bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and M S Sonak, guided the parties to peacefully resolve the issue, which was agreed by them.
Justice Chandrachud commented - "Put an end to this now. Without affecting the rights of the plaintiffs (Salim and Javed) we will say that they have accepted the financial settlement. Resolve it..."
A
source revealed the turn of events - "They met in court today and the
judge asked the producer whether the original script was written by the plaintiffs, the reply was yes. The next question was whether their new film is based on the same script, the answer
was again yes. The judge then told both the parties that they had till 4
in the evening to come to an agreement or otherwise the court will
issue an order,".
If rumours are to believed, the case was settled with a compensation promise for Rs 3 to 5 crores for Salim-Javed.
