While the search for Sarabjit Singh is still on, Sonakshi has been signed to essay the role of Sarabjit Singh's sister, Dalbir Kaur, in Subhash Ghai's ambitious project.

Sarabjit Singh was an Indian citizen who spent 22 years in a Pakistan prison on charges of espionage. Sarabjit, died in a Lahore prison this year after an attack by fellow inmates. The whole nation was captivated by his life story and his sister's long struggle to bring him back home.

Sarabjit Singh's family have given their approval for the project.

The film will be directed by ad-filmmaker Ishwar Singh Muchla. The project is likely to go on floors early next year.
