The Competition
Commission of India (CCI) recently decided to initiate recovery
proceedings against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and 8 other entities who
have failed to pay penalties imposed on them.
The CCI keeps a check on any unfair trade practices at the market place. While publishing a list
of these defaulters, the CCI said these penalties which amount to Rs.
2.17 crores in total, have not been paid despite there being no appeal
filed or appeal having been dismissed.
Among the defaulters Aamir Khan stands to pay Rs. 1 lakh which was imposed as part of an order passed against 27 film producers
on May 25, 2011 in a case related to anti-competition practices by
filmmakers. CCI added that they would take appropriate action against
the other entities.
