It seems history is set to repeat itself. Remember Ranbir Kapoor making his debut in "Saawariya", which released in the same week as Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone’s "Om Shanti Om'? We all know that while "Saawariya" tanked, "Om Shanti Om" went on to become the biggest hit of that year.
Now there’s a strong sense of déjà vu around Diwali 2014. If sources are to be believed, director Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor, who will start shooting their next "Jagga Jasoos" early next year, have decided to release the film in 2014.
Well, the film will wrap in August/September and the best time to release it would be during Diwali as Kapoor already has another release in "Bombay Velvet" at Christmas time. But the problem is, Shah Rukh Khan, too, wants to release his mammoth venture "Happy New Year" during Diwali. We are definitely in for some spectacular fireworks at the ticket counter during Diwali 2014. Another BIG clash!
"Jagga Jasoos" is backed by UTV Motion Pictures and the corporate house is also in the running to present "Happy New Year". If UTV wins that race, they will have two BIG releases on the same date.
