Sanjay Leela Bhansali's team is all set to take legal action against the makers of the Turkish film ‘Benim Dunyam’. The trailer of the film which was uploaded on September 5 looks like a frame-by-frame adaptation of SLB's magnum opus, ‘Black’.
A
member of Sanjay Bhansali's production team says the filmmaker had no
idea that ‘Black’ was remade until someone told them about the uncanny
similarities that ‘Benim Dunyam’ had with Black.
A
source close to SLB says, "No one has approached Mr. Bhansali for the
rights. It is an unauthorized illegal remake. Indian filmmakers are
constantly accused of lifting from foreign sources. ‘Benim Dunyam’ seems
blatantly plagiarized version of Black." The source also adds that no attempt was ever made by the Turkish director Ugur Yucel to obtain remake rights.
‘Black’ featuring Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan is a story about the relationship of a blind and deaf girl with her teacher.
The Turkish film ‘Benim Dunyam’ is set to release on October 25.
