New ‘Lone Survivor’ Trailer Arrives as Oscar Momentum Builds

Here’s the second full trailer for the true war story Lone Survivor, which is based on the book by Navy SEAL Marcus Littrell, who was part of a small group of SEALs that found itself ambushed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Peter Berg directs stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster & Eric Bana. ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ Video Blog/Review: A Disney Movie Made With Disney Magic

If all the Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, animation and theme park coverage weren’t hints enough, we here at /Film are Disney fans. Big time. So a film like Saving Mr. Banks, which is about Walt Disney’s struggle to make one of the studio’s greatest films, Mary Poppins, is right in our wheelhouse. The film opens December 20 and will play the AFI Fest presented by Audi this weekend. Peter Sciretta and I were lucky enough not only to see the film before that festival date, but to see it at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA, where about 45% of the movie was shot and actually took place.
So while this film, which stars Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Bradley Whitford, BJ Novak and Jason Schwartzman, might not seem like the typical film for us to do a video blog for, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give our opinion of a Disney film which the Walt Disney Company made in the place Walt Disney actually had these experiences.

Robert Rodriguez Directing First Two ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ TV Episodes

Robert Rodriguez is a prime partner in the new El Rey Network, which is the new “genre-busting cable network” aimed at the Latino audience, and we’ve known that one of the cornerstones of the El Rey programming would be a new From Dusk Till Dawn series. Rodriguez isn’t just producing the series, either; as it goes into production in Austin, TX, the announcement has come that he’s directing the first two hour-long episodes.
The show will remake and expand the movie in ten episodes, with D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Seth Gecko, Zane Holtz (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as Richie Gecko, Jesse Garcia (Sons of Anarchy) as new character Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez, and Don Johnson (Django Unchained, Miami Vice) as Sheriff Earl McGraw.
