As per the reports, Amitabh Bachchan had refused to lend his voice to Bheeshma Pitamaha, the character who plays a pivotal role in the Hindu mythology ‘Mahabharat’. Apparently, the reason stated was that the actor did not want to be working for a cartoon project.  The animated version of Mahabharat is being made by Jayantilal Gada from PEN.

Jayantilal Gada revealed - "Bachchan rejected the idea. He had said, 'Mujhe cartoon mat banao.' So we decided to make a dummy film for him and it took us two years to do that. When he saw the film, he instantly agreed to be the voice and face of Bheeshma Pitamaha. The dummy film was shown to all the actors and they were also impressed."

Asked about the making of the film, Gada revealed - "I have been wanting to make Mahabharat. It is such a big subject, with so many layers to it. Since we decided to make an animation film, we thought it would be nice if each character has a face that people can identify and are familiar with and instantly connect.”

Other actors such as Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Vidya Balan and Ajay Devgn have also lent their voices for the film and reportedly, none of the stars have charged a single penny for the project.
