HORROR STORY Has No Thrill No Chill

Overall this might get audience in small centers and few crazy horror flick fans might lap it up but otherwise this is bound to struggle at box office.

HORROR STORY  Has No Thrill No Chill

Pluses:

Average performances andfew novel situations like dead nurse make it on-time watch.

Minuses:

It is not chilling enoughfor a horror film. The events are very predictable and the climax also hasnothing new to offer. As they say, too many characters spoil the broth; thewriter’s attempt to kill many characters makes it less and less terrifying asthe film proceeds.

Critic Rating:
2.5/5

Business Rating:
2/5

Verdict:

Watch it if you love thegenre more than the movie!

Detailed Analysis:

Thewriters Vikram Bhatt and Mohan Azad have written few scary (if not spine-chilling)sequences but the director Ayush Raina makes sure that none of the audiencefeels them. There are so many seen-before sequences.

The plotis also very usual. Seven friends reunite after several years at a local pubwhere they learn about an abandoned hotel with a reputation for being haunted.Intrigued by these rumors, the group decides to explore the abandoned buildingbut soon come across strange and inexplicable occurrences.

As expected, the film hasno great performances but the acts hold the film together. Radhika Menon, themain protagonist does above average. Nishant Malkani playing Achint in the filmis worth a special mention. Karan Kundra also does a very average job. AparnaBajpai is over-the top. Tia Bajpai as ghost (or as her voice) is good.

Background music is over the top as expected by Amar 'extremist' Mohile who did same kind of shabby job in last week release "Zanjeer".  Except one sequence where nurse is calling patient, writing is lazy and uninspiring. Film is too long by 10 minutes and editing is average. Camerawork by Gargey is decent and make up is so pathetic that every actress in close up looks like a ghost.

Director Ayush Raina tries his best but with such a wafer thin plot and predictable screenplay, there is not much he can do. Film does not hold the ground against earlier effort from Vikram Bhatt's camp ie. "1920 Evil Returns".

Overall this might get audience in small centers and few crazy horror flick fans might lap it up but otherwise this is bound to struggle at box office.
