Bombay Talkies (2013) First Day Box Office Collections

The omnibus film Bombay Talkies, despite a few most rave short films, did not get a grand opening at the domestic box office. In an interview, director Zoya Akhtar had emphasized how irrelevant is the concept of short films in India and that’s exactly what happened it seems here. The film opened to a poor occupany yesterday and managed to rake up a bare minimum of 1.15 Crores approx by the end of its first day (Friday) at the Box Office.
A celebration of 100 years of cinema as they are calling it, Bombay Talkies reflects the brilliance of its directors’ repertoire. The film has upped their standards. At the box office, however, it has been a flop show.

The film’s opening occupancy in the morning shows were very low, but it was expected, that it might pick up in the evening and late night shows. However, nothing of that sorts could actually happen that resulted to a poor opening day business.
Though the performances of Rani Mukerji and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and rest of the casts were flattering, it seems the film isn’t a mass evoking product.
