Back To Banaras For Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor

Banaras may soon be welcoming back Sonam Kapoor. After being a guest in the city for weeks in succession during the making of Raanjhanaa, Sonam would be returning along with her co-star Dhanush for the music launch of the film.

“The film’s promo had seen a rather soft launch for itself and still it has already managed 2 million views in less than a week. However the makers wish to make the music launch a very special event. Plans are being put together to make the people of Banaras hear the music first. Director Aanand L Rai as well as producer Krishika Lulla feel that it would be just befitting for all involved,” informs a source.
While Mumbai has time and again been the preferred city of all music and film announcements, it would be pretty much a first for Banaras to be hosting an event of this scale.
“The entire cast and principle crew would be travelling to Banaras for that,” the source adds, “Since A.R. Rahman has given the music for the album, he too may be flying down from Chennai for the visit. The film is special for him too since other than Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, this is the only Hindi film that he has worked on during the year gone by.”
One now waits to see whether the launch would eventually take place in a Five Star facility or would a Banarasi Ghat turn out to be the chosen one in order to bring in further exclusivity as well as audience-location connect.
“That would be too early to say,” says Krishika, “All I can confirm though is that we are aiming for a music launch in Banaras soon. We would soon be announcing our plans for that.”
